When I was younger, I wanted to write about myself. I read books about people who were like me--who thought like me, and who saw the world as I did.
Now, the idea of writing about myself seems tiresome. When I read (and write), I want to meet people I've never possessed the strength, the gall, the cunning or the madness to be.
